Volunteer Position: Registration Support Team

We’re looking for a team of awesome volunteers to handle event registration inquiries, support issues, and play leadership roles during onsite registration during the event from May 6-9, 2020 in Reno. Registration Support Team members receive training and guidance from Registration Lead for the event. Support team volunteers respond to emails from participants and work within the Cvent registration platform. Volunteers can do this support work from anywhere, at any time of day. Registration Support Team members are integral to the event’s success and will receive a complimentary staff ticket and if needed, room accommodations for the event. 


  • Be the point of contact for all event participant enquiries regarding registration.
  • Answer participant, volunteer, and speaker  registration questions via email through Zendesk
  • Escalate questions and issues according to agreed upon protocols
  • Use Cvent, our registration platform, to handle registration services - registering, cancelling, substituting, updating registration records, and providing logistical information as requested
  • Regularly report registration statistics
  • Identify recurring questions to potentially add into our FAQs
  • Create and use macros and auto response emails
  • Maintain presence on Slack and Zendesk
  • Attend team meetings
  • Communicate recurring issues to Registration Lead for process or website updates
  • Play a leadership role during onsite registration of 2,000+ people from May 6-9, 2020
  • Track volunteer hours throughout and send to Registration Lead each month


  • Previous customer service or support experience
  • Previous experience leading volunteers, or experience managing people
  • Excellent problem solver and work well under pressure
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Professional demeanor in verbal and written communications
  • Ability to learn and use email help desk software
  • Ability to work in cross-functional environment
  • Knowledge of Burning Man culture
  • Lead by example, motivate, and be a team player with excellent communication skills 
  • Organized, detail oriented, effective multi-tasker, and self starter


  • The timeframe of this volunteer position is from December 9, 2019 - May 9, 2020.
  • We are looking for someone to commit to volunteering 3-5 hours per week during that timeframe.
  • Use of personal computer and phone will be required. 
  • This volunteer position can be done from anywhere, at anytime.
