The Logistics Lead will be the right hand of the Operations Lead for the event from May 6-9, 2020 in Reno. This role will lead and execute logistics as needed for the event’s overall program, content, experience design, ancillary events, and operations to ensure a smooth and fulfilling attendee/participant experience. This role will be responsible for the flow of people across the various programs and all activities.

  • Create and manage the on-site volunteer staffing plan including room monitors and wayfinders
  • Recruit and lead team of logistics volunteers with support from Staffing Lead
  • Work with Content Team to schedule sessions in rooms according to needs and demand 
  • Collaborate with Registration and Experience Design teams on flow of people throughout event
  • Create wayfinding plan with graphics with support from Graphics Team
  • Manage plenary speaker logistics for pre-production & onsite with Content Team
  • Work with Activations Producer to ensure that any activities have considered flow of people, public space, timings to get to activities, capacity, how the flow will affect other activities or local areas, and incorporate the participant flow from the indoor venues to outdoor  activities or venues
  • Manage staff rooms and handling allocations
  • Responsible for Staff Production Rooms on site 
  • Coordinate and communicate all timings of all sessions, meetings, overall schedule and production schedule pre production and onsite for show
  • Prepare and execute post event survey and debrief for logistics team


  • Must be locally based in the Reno, Nevada area. This role may work from home or out of our event headquarters in downtown Reno
  • 5+ events of proven success “playing Tetris” with participant/attendee headcounts, room sizes and room layouts
  • Must have past experience leading logistics for events or operations involving over 2,000 people
  • Excellent experience creating and maintaining complex, user-friendly spreadsheets
  • Strong attention to detail and problem solving ability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in optimizing participant/attendee journey to create a smooth experience and flow through various spaces 
  • Friendly, professional demeanor with strong customer service and support skills
  • Very organized, able to manage and document many moving parts
  • Experience leading and appreciating volunteer teams
  • Collaborative and proactively communicate with team
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • It is helpful if the candidate has previously been to Burning Man and/or is familiar with its culture


  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record


  • This is a temporary, part-time position, ineligible for benefits. 
  • The timeframe of temporary, part-time employment is from November 2019 - May 2020.
